Fall Golf Tournament
Hello, Sports Fans!
Friday, 13 October 2017, marked the beginning of a great new partnership between SAME Phoenix Post and the Gateway Golf Group. Fun was had by all, and our Post was rewarded with a successful golfing event. Friday the 13th was a very lucky day!
In an effort to provide our players and sponsors with an even bigger bang for their bucks, the Planning Committee for the 2017 SAME Phoenix Post Fall Golf Tournament eagerly explored sources in the golfing industry who could help us bring more fun, more adventure, more value, and more charitable profits to the table. We wanted to partner with someone who could help us raise the bar on our tournaments and maximize our fund-raising efforts. And we found that “someone” in the Gateway Golf Group.
Nationally-renowned experts throughout the golfing industry, Gateway Golf Group is associated with some of the biggest, highest-attended, highest-grossing charity golfing events happening out there today. Specialists in the “Business of Golf”, they are a leading provider in golf tournament services, products, and fund-raising. And in our first event with Gateway Golf Group, they did not disappoint. Our players had their golfing experience enhanced by the professional ambiance, activities, and organizational expertise provided by the Gateway on-site team. Our players were especially enthralled by the competitive excitement provided by the Ball Launcher off of Hole 1. In fact, the winner of the proximity Ball Launcher contest was our own VP of Membership, Neil Wentz! Overall, our committee received a plethora of favorable comments from our players. They thoroughly enjoyed the tournament and asked that we have Gateway Golf Group support our future events.
As always, we want to acknowledge and thank the warm generosity of our sustaining member hole sponsors: Engineered With Layton, AMEC Foster Wheeler, AECOM, Pulice, Four Tribes Construction, Arrington Watkins Architects, TRC Solutions, Mead & Hunt, Michael Baker International, and Ninyo & Moore. And we thank Arrow Indian Contractors, who sponsored the abundant post-tournament buffet. The enthusiastic support and participation of our sponsors helped make our tournament a fund-raising success.
The SAME Phoenix Post Golf Tournament Committee definitely met our objective of providing a day of fun, great memories, and golfing excitement to our players. And we were able to add to our Education and Mentorship coffers by meeting our fund-raising goal.
Needless to say, very soon our Committee will be getting together with our new partners, the Gateway Golf Group, to begin planning for the 2018 SAME Phoenix Post Spring Tournament, which will take place next April. So stay tuned for further information. An open call for Committee volunteers will be going out. And, as always, we welcome ideas and suggestions from our Post membership as we prepare for the Spring golfing event.
As with any strategic alignment, our Committee is looking at our partnership with Gateway Golf Group as a long-term, productive, profitable relationship that will help us make our tournaments bigger and better than ever!
A huge Thanks goes out to Gabriel “Sam” Groves, Small Business Liaison Officer and Golf Committee Chair for bringing this event together so spectacularly.
The Phoenix Post sponsored Max Hinkle to attend the Engineering Camp this past summer. Max was thrilled and grateful forr this life enhancing experience. He presented a brief slide show of his activities to the Post membership where he enthusiastically shared about the lessons he learned and the freindships he made. From his presentation it is clear to see the value of our continue support of this exceptional program from National SAME.
July Social Outing at Diamondback Stadium
On July 7th, a group of Post members and thier families gathered at Diamondback Stadium to watch our Arizona Diamondbacks win over the Cincinnati Reds 6 to 3. The group enjoyed a relaxing and fun time in the beautiful Arizona sun. It was a perfect outing for members to get together as families and friends.
Luke Civil Engineering Squadron Change of Command
We are pleased to extend a warm welcome to Lt. Col. Paul Fredin who assumed Command of the 56th Civil Engineering Squadron at a Change of Command ceremony held at Luke Air Force Base.
